About the Host & the Show…
Dr. Jay (John A. Gorostiza Villanueva, MD) is a host, producer, and a board-certified physician with specialities in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and Interventional Pain Management.

He is the host and executive producer of “Happy Health Radio w’ Dr. Jay” on LA Talk LIVE!, a motivating and engaging program that “listens, analyzes, and talks with heart” on a variety of current topics relevant to health and well-being. His show’s guests include health experts, special correspondents, and interactive segments with listeners through social media, e-mail, and live phone calls.

Dr. Jay has always set the bar high in attaining excellence in all his endeavors. After being a Cum Laude Society graduate of the prestigious Loyola High School of Los Angeles with First Honors, he left Southern California for 13 years of undergraduate university, medical school, and post-doctoral training. Dr. Jay received his Ivy League B.A. degree with honors from Cornell University in New York, then received his Medical Doctorate (M.D.) from the University of Minnesota Medical School, where he received the William Knobloch Merit Scholarship and the David E. Rogers Research Fellowship from the renowned New York Academy of Medicine. He completed his Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation residency training at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, one of the top-ranking pain & rehabilitation hospital systems in the nation. He then completed his Pain Management Fellowship in the Department of Anesthesiology at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA. During his post-graduate training, Dr. Jay was recognized with numerous awards for excellence in teaching and scholarly work. He has published scientific papers in high impact journals, such as Neuromodulation: Technology at the Neural Interface. Dr. Jay has presented nationally on a variety of topics involving both rehabilitation medicine and pain medicine.

He is the Co-Founder of Innovative Pain and Spine Physicians in the Greater Los Angeles area, which treats patients from all walks of life, from A-List celebrities to manual laborers with joint, muscle, and/or spine pain from various musculoskeletal and nerve disorders. He determines the root cause of their pain and creates an individualized comprehensive treatment plan that will safely control their pain and optimize their quality of life in order to achieve maximum level of function.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Jay has been featured on HGTV “House Hunters” and has a popular following of over 10,200 subscribers on his Youtube channel (music4lifemd), featuring his musical talents as a pianist and singer, where his videos have gained over 5.7 million views. He also volunteers in social justice advocacy groups, participates in free clinics and medical missions, and keeps a healthy lifestyle of exercising and all the outdoor activities sunny Southern California has to offer. He also volunteers with the Cornell Alumni Club of Los Angeles encouraging local youth to pursue higher education and professional careers.
